The TROPEArte Plein Air Festival was held annually in Tropea, Italy, from 2023 to 2025. Tropea is an ancient walled town on a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in southern Italy’s Calabria region. For one week, artists from around the world gathered together to paint and create art in “plein air” (outdoors) amongst the narrow alleyways, the scenic overlooks, and on the beach to capture some of the town’s beauty on their canvases. The festival culminated with a celebration and an exhibit of works created during the week.
