Introduction: The second annual TROPEArte Plein Air Festival will be held in Tropea, Italy from October 8-17, 2024. Tropea is an ancient walled town on a cliff overlooking the Tyrrhenian sea in southern Italy’s Calabria region. For one week artists from around the world will gather together to paint and create art in “plein air” (outdoors) amongst the narrow alleyways, the scenic overlooks, and on the beach to capture some of the town’s beauty on their canvases. The festival will culminate with a celebration and an exhibit of works created during the week. This page includes all the details of the event, as well as a required application form for artists who wish to participate.

Artist application and participation process: Artists from around the world must register to participate in the TROPEArte Plein Air Festival by August 30, 2024. Interested artists must fill out and submit the application form below. Travel and lodging will not be covered, and will be the responsibility of the participating artists. Participating artists will receive participation packages that will include further detailed information on the TROPEArte Plein Air Festival, including all necessary instructions for the festival, as the date of the festival nears.

Tropearte Exhibition Details: Artists who are accepted to participate must complete all artwork in Tropea during the TROPEArte Plein Air Festival. Artists can paint multiple works during the festival. However, exhibition space may be limited, so artists should expect to choose a few preferred works for the exhibition display.
